Don't be tempted, he was one of the biggest internet, mail and phone scammers in America, and has now moved to Australia. Apperantly he lives in Perth, near me. The new letter is a build of the old one, "in 1997 I lost my job" is actually a refference to him getting out of prison in 1997. It may be the same guy, I'm not sure, but either way BIN IT! The first letter was about his car being repossed. The second, an internet letter, was the same type of thing. You will probably receive one more along the lines of " In January 1998, I received a letter......" Thats the one I received. There are many variants, and users of chain letters. If you do the maths...............

The fine is about $8000, the cost is estimated at $211.50c ( wrong actually, a closer cost would be $290.50c ). The people who respond on average IS about 3%, but the people who actually send $10 is about 1%. The people as a cap who can take part before a scheme (look up schemes for this cap) is about 360000, that amount will be hit quite soon, the chain will then cave in, costing the people on the bottom rungs all there investments. There is also a cap for a low. If under about 3600 people are using, the scheme caves in, an even bigger sum is lost through postage. Of course, the $8000 comes into play as soon as someone alerts the authorities, or they get your letter. Thats pretty fast to happen, so you probably will get fined $8000. So what if you gain $70k, right? Well, you have to refund alll the money to the people. $8290.50 is the total loss, plus another $4000 is your a "producer" of the scam and get a smart idea to make your own chain letter. There is a small chance of it working, wow, you get $70k............... Remember the 1% of people send $10? a third of $70000 is about $23000, and if under 3% respond that1st time........ You get the costs back plus about $50 dollars spending money. So what is it, a, I think its 7200:1 chance of getting $50, and a HUGE ( Australias police population plus a sixth of the citizens ) chance of losing $8290.50c, or keeping your money?
